What if dlinkap.local is not working?
Dlinkap.local is not a website, it is a local web address used to interact with the Dlink extender’s web interface. It helps you to control and manage the various settings of the D-link range extender. If you have encountered an error accessing dlinkap.local during the setup process, you might receive a notification or an error saying that you are not connected to the Wi-fi network of the range extender. Your laptop or computer must be connected to the extender’s network to access the web interface of it.
Here are the troubleshooting steps to connect to dlinkap.local
- If it’s the first time you are trying to connect to the dlinkap.local interface, you must check whether you are connected to the extender’s network or not. Connect to the extender’s network then try to access its web interface.
- When you connect your mobile device or computer to the extender’s network, make sure that the Client Link LED is solid white. In case the LED is not lit, open the Wi-fi connection manager and ensure that your computer or mobile device is connected to the Dlink extender’s network.
- Open a browser and type the default IP address of the extender on the address bar of the browser. The IP address of the Dlink extender is 192.168.0.50. If the IP address doesn’t work, it may be the reason that it might have changed. You can also view the IP address of the extender by logging in to the router which is connected to the extender.
- It may be the reason that you are using incorrect Wireless credentials to connect to the extender’s network. Check the Wi-fi credentials and connect to the extender again.
- Sometimes, the downloaded history and cache memory get piled up on the browser that may deny a user from accessing the dlinkap.local interface. Clear the cache and browsing history of the browser then try again.
- Make sure you are using the approved browsers. Only a few browsers such as Google Chrome, Internet Explorer and Firefox are the authorized browsers that must be used to access the web interface of the Dlink extender. Switch to the approved browser if you are not using any one of them.
- If your computer is using a Dynamic IP address, assign it a Static one. You can change the IP address of the computer using the Control Panel of windows.
- Sometimes the active firewall may find a threat in the web interface of the extender, as a result, may deny you from visiting the dlinkap.local window. Disable the active Firewall and antivirus software on your computer by the Window Control Panel then try again.
- Power Cycle all the connected devices including the extender, modem, router, and computer then try to access the web interface of the range extender.
- If all the above methods don’t resolve the dlinkap.local issue, try performing the factory reset on your range extender. Press and hold the Reset button on the back panel of the extender until or unless your device doesn’t automatically restart.
